Summary
CHALLENGE
- Grow a brand-new premium home-scent brand from its very first day of sales, with no existing customer base to lean on.
- Reach buyers through channels a typical influencer program would never touch.
SOLUTION
- Launch a formal affiliate program on day one, built on a generous, long-duration commission model.
- Run multiple commission tiers and a multi-level override structure inside a single UpPromote program.
RESULTS
- UpPromote handled every commission structure the team designed, however layered.
- The program now attracts affiliates across several industries, from UGC creators to HVAC professionals.
LESSONS
- Start early. You don’t need six figures in revenue before affiliates make sense.
- Share the upside. A win-win payout model keeps affiliates motivated for the long term.
Most premium home products smell like a luxury only a hotel can deliver. Everscent set out to change that.
Everscent makes a whole-home scent diffusion system. The concept started in high-end hotels, and the team brought it down to the residential level so a house can smell as good as a lobby. The diffuser connects to a home’s HVAC system, and customers keep it running through an ongoing subscription of fragrance bottles.
The company began selling in February 2026. That makes its affiliate story unusual, because Everscent did not wait to grow before turning to affiliates. It started with them.
Why did Everscent start affiliate marketing on day one?
Most merchants treat affiliate marketing as a later-stage move. They wait until they have crossed six figures in revenue, then decide the timing is right.
Everscent went the other way. It launched its affiliate program the same month it started selling.
The decision came from experience. Members of the founding team had grown a previous company through affiliates, so they trusted the model before Everscent sold a single unit.
We started affiliate marketing right from the very beginning… We were big believers in helping grow Everscent through that same business model.

For Everscent, affiliates were not a growth tactic to add later. They were the growth engine from the start.
How did Everscent design commissions affiliates don’t want to leave?
Everscent built a payout model meant to attract partners and keep them. Two design choices do the heavy lifting.
The first is a generous, tiered rate. Everscent’s standard affiliate earns 15% commission, and select partners earn up to 20%. Those rates sit well above the 5% to 15% that many merchants offer, and the team runs several programs at once, including lower internal rates and a 0% tier used purely to track partners paid a flat fee.
That generosity is deliberate. Everscent sells a higher-priced product with healthy margins, so it can share more of each sale.
We designed our program to be very enticing to affiliates, but we didn’t want to be greedy. We’re willing to share in those profits with our affiliates.

The bigger draw is duration. Everscent’s diffuser is a one-time sale, but the fragrance bottles renew on subscription. Affiliates share in that recurring revenue for up to three years after they bring in a customer.
That structure turns a single referral into a stream of income, which is rare in affiliate programs that pay only on the first order.
We wanted to let them share that ongoing bottle subscription revenue for up to three years. That’s been a very powerful motivator to get affiliates interested in working with us.

By tying commissions to a subscription rather than a one-off purchase, Everscent gives partners a reason to stay.
How does Everscent recruit beyond influencers?
Everscent does not limit its program to social media creators. Its affiliates range from UGC creators to interior designers, home builders, and HVAC professionals.
That mix reflects the product. A home scent system that installs on an HVAC unit is a natural fit for the trades and design professionals already inside customers’ homes. These partners reach buyers that a typical influencer never would.
To help partners convert, Everscent pairs each affiliate’s tracking link with a discount code of 10% to 15% off, so customers are encouraged to buy through an affiliate rather than directly.
The team is also building toward larger partnerships with multi-location companies and franchises, using a multi-tier structure where a parent partner earns an override on the sales its network generates. Everscent uses UpPromote’s multi-level setup to run these layered relationships inside one program.
Why did Everscent choose UpPromote for a complex program?
Everscent’s program is unusually intricate. It combines multiple commission tiers, three-year payout windows, subscription-based commissions, and a multi-level override structure, all at once.
That complexity is exactly where UpPromote earned the team’s confidence. Everscent runs each of these structures in a single tool, and the platform has kept up with everything the team has thrown at it.
It’s handled every scenario we’ve thrown at it, in terms of different structures and complexities. And it’s very easy to use.

Everscent currently runs on UpPromote’s Professional plan and is considering an upgrade as the program scales. For a brand only months into selling, the priority has been a system flexible enough to grow into, not one it will outgrow.
What can other merchants learn from Everscent?
Everscent’s story offers two takeaways for merchants weighing affiliate marketing.
First, you do not have to wait. Everscent launched its program on its first day of sales and made affiliates central to its growth from the start.
Second, treat generosity as strategy. By sharing a real slice of long-term, recurring revenue, Everscent gives partners a reason to keep promoting, not just to cash a one-time commission.
We want this to be something that they’re excited about, motivated about.

For a young brand, that combination, start early and share the upside, turned affiliates into an engine rather than an afterthought.
