Safeguard Growth with Fraud Protection
Fake signups, self-referrals, leaked codes, brand bidding. Set the exceptions, and reward the partners who actually earned it.
Fraud wears the mask of growth
Not every win is what it seems. Here is why.
Hundreds of new affiliate signups?
Bots and spam accounts, joining to get at your links and codes.
One partner keeps converting?
They bought it themselves, through their own link. Those orders traces back to the same IP address.
Sales from a creator you can't trace to any content?
They bid on your brand name in Google Ads, so the ad sat above your own store.
Decide the exceptions
You set the rules and how to deal with them. Flag the referral and keep it visible for review, or don't record it at all.

How to protect
and when?
-
Stop junk at the door
Behavior checks catch bots on your registration page and email you when one is caught. Named addresses and repeat signups from one IP stay out.
-
Choose who gets in
Open the program only to the regions you sell in, keep the form off search, ask your own questions, and review each application.
-
Catch fake referrals
Orders where the customer's email matches the partner's don't count. Sales from blocked IPs are ignored, and repeat referrals from one IP get flagged or blocked.
-
Pay only for sales partners earned
Referrals from Google Ads clicks can be marked for review or denied. Discounts live inside the partner's link, so there's no code to leak to coupon sites. When a link and a coupon hit the same order, it counts once.
-
Hold commission until you're sure
Referrals arrive pending and only earn once approved. Set the delay to match your return window.
-
Refunds cancel the commission
When an order is refunded, an offsetting record brings that commission back to zero.
-
See every change to your program
Each edit to your program is logged, so you can trace what changed and when if something looks off.
FAQs
It can, which is why the blocking is reversible. A flagged account gets a warning badge, not a deletion, and both block lists can be reviewed and reversed whenever you want.
The detection rules also give you a middle option: let the signup or order through with a warning and judge it yourself. Start there, then tighten once you've seen the pattern in your own data.
It stays in your referral list with a warning beside it. You approve it, deny it, or leave it while you look into the source. If you would rather not see them at all, set the rule to leave those referrals off your records instead.
5 checks you can run today, without installing anything.
- New signups arriving in clusters from the same address — likely bots or spam.
- Partners who never sell but keep opening your emails — the same dead signups.
- Commission going to a partner you don't remember approving, or an affiliate paying themselves — approvals or self-referrals slipping through.
- A partner converting suspiciously well because they bid on your brand name in Google Ads — inflated results, not real reach.
Yes. Fraud detection for both affiliate signups and referral orders is included on every UpPromote plan, so you don't need to upgrade to start screening for suspicious activity.
