Pitstop Nutrition supplies top-tier sports supplements and wellness products for athletes and fitness enthusiasts, including protein powders, pre-workouts, hydration solutions, vitamins, and more.

Their in-house Pitstop lines are crafted to support muscle growth, recovery, hydration, and mental focus. The latest, Pitstop+ Rise & Shine, blends electrolytes, nootropics, and adaptogens.

The brand also sells branded merchandise like clothing, socks, and shakers. But their real growth engine isn’t advertising; it’s a curated network of athlete influencers.

Why did Pitstop Nutrition build its growth on athlete influencers instead of ads?

When Pitstop Nutrition entered the competitive world of sports supplements, it chose a path rooted in authenticity.

Rather than relying on flashy advertising, the brand reached out to micro-influencers like athletes and fitness enthusiasts with genuine connections to their followers.

These influencers became the voice of the brand, reaching audiences in an organic and relatable way.

To manage those partnerships, Pitstop Nutrition chose affiliate marketing, commissions for every sale generated, with no upfront fees. Running it well, though, meant finding the right platform.

Why did Pitstop Nutrition choose UpPromote to run the program?

After a disappointing experience with Shopify Collabs in a previous job, co-owner Suzanne Lennon decided to use UpPromote to manage the program from the start.

With UpPromote, the brand could set up and manage multiple affiliate programs while keeping everything organized. The athletes valued the transparency — clear referral notifications that kept them updated on their performance.

In terms of what we’ve used, it’s been great. The athletes we work with say they like UpPromote because the notification feature lets them know every time they get a referral, which motivates them to keep going.

How does Pitstop Nutrition recruit and retain its athlete ambassadors?

The brand treats their influencer roster as a community, not a contact list — starting with how they recruits and how they keeps that group together.

Quality over quantity in recruitment

Pitstop Nutrition personally invites micro-influencers to join their program, focusing on athletes who connect with fitness and wellness audiences.

The co-owner emphasized quality over quantity. Instead of onboarding as many affiliates as possible, the brand carefully selects a small group who reflect their values and align with their mission.

The brand  works with athletes from bodybuilding, weightlifting, and powerlifting. One example is Layla Allen, a professional figure competitor and NABBA Pro who has won multiple titles.

That selectivity sets up the close-knit dynamic the brand wants to protect.

A community feel that keeps ambassadors engaged

Pitstop Nutrition wants a strong sense of community among their influencers. Rather than leaving them to promote on their own, the brand treats them as part of a collaborative network.

That bond strengthens relationships with influencers while keeping the brand’s image trustworthy in customers’ eyes.

With the numbers, we probably wouldn’t be looking to add anyone else on because a big thing with our affiliates is that it’s kind of a community feel. Everybody gets along… it’s more about that internal community feel.

Keeping the group small only works if the rewards feel fair — which is where the program structure comes in.

How does Pitstop Nutrition keep their affiliate program fair and motivating?

The brand pairs a clear reward structure with steady, personal support to keep their ambassadors invested.

Two-tier, performance-based commissions and vouchers

Pitstop Nutrition created two programs to manage two groups of influencers. All athletes start in Program 1, earning a 3.5% commission plus a £50 gift voucher for Pitstop Nutrition products.

If athletes drive £3,000 in monthly referral sales over several months, they move up to a 5% commission and a £150 gift voucher.

Thanks to UpPromote’s auto-tier system, merchants can set specific sales targets and automatically upgrade affiliates to the next tier once the criteria are met.

The vouchers also give influencers easy access to the products, so their endorsements sound more authentic and they feel more connected to the brand.

Ongoing support through monthly check-ins and product seeding

Pitstop Nutrition prioritizes open communication. Each month begins with a WhatsApp message sharing gift vouchers, commission details, and any program updates.

Beyond that, the brand stays in touch with friendly check-ins throughout the month, so influencers feel encouraged and well-informed.

They also sends athlete influencers two Pit Stop Plus products each month, letting them try the handmade items and share their experience with followers. UpPromote makes sending product samples straightforward — selecting products, choosing recipients, and managing the process in one place.

That steady contact turns one-off partnerships into lasting relationships.

What results has Pitstop Nutrition achieved through affiliate marketing?

For Pitstop Nutrition, affiliate marketing has become a cornerstone of the business — generating approximately 60% of daily orders, or around 36 orders each day.

UpPromote simplified affiliate management, freeing the brand to focus on building authentic relationships with their athlete influencers.

The result is a sustainable, cost-effective sales channel that drives consistent results without relying on traditional advertising.
