Soundbrenner makes musical tools for every musician, from beginners to experts, specializing in smart wearables for practice and performance.

Their key products are the Core, a smartwatch with a vibrating metronome, dB meter, and chromatic tuner, and the Pulse, a vibrating metronome that pairs with the Soundbrenner app.

The app also works on its own, offering a vibrating metronome and tools for managing rhythms and setlists. To scale the business, Soundbrenner turned to affiliate marketing on UpPromote.

Why did Soundbrenner build their affiliate program on UpPromote?

Soundbrenner set out to scale through affiliate marketing and chose UpPromote to run and manage their programs. From day one, it has relied solely on the platform.

The team found the setup easy, especially after UpPromote moved under the Shopify UI.

I would say UpPromote is actually even more straightforward now that it’s under the Shopify UI. So I don’t think I’ve had any problems with navigating through

Soundbrenner quickly built three programs for their affiliate types — artists, music educators, and tech reviewers — each paying a 20% commission per sale, plus a 20% discount code for referred buyers.

UpPromote’s tracking and reporting also made payouts simpler, letting the team export data and pay affiliates accurately.

So having even cleaner settings for where I can extract the data is a lot easier… now it’s separated, so it’s like its own little subsection

With the foundation running smoothly, Soundbrenner turned its attention to the relationships behind the numbers.

How does Soundbrenner support and engage their affiliates?

Soundbrenner puts real effort into theirpartners, both new recruits and ones who have gone quiet.

Let affiliates experience products firsthand

Soundbrenner gives affiliates product samples so they can try the gear and write authentic reviews, which the brand then repurposes across their own channels.

But samples come with quality control. Rather than judging by follower count, the team arranges calls to gauge genuine enthusiasm, content plans, and the potential for a long-term partnership.

That upfront vetting keeps samples flowing to partners who will actually use them.

Re-engage affiliates who went quiet

Using UpPromote’s tracking, Soundbrenner spotted affiliates who had been inactive for the past six months and reached out personally by phone.

The team offered content suggestions, updates on new products and the app, and samples for those still interested, while confirming that partners were committed for the long term rather than just after free products.

That care reflects Soundbrenner’s belief that quality affiliates are the ones who drive real referrals and sales.

What results has Soundbrenner seen, and what’s next?

So far, affiliate marketing accounts for 7–15% of Soundbrenner’s total revenue.

The brand wants to push that share to 20–25%, which means growing their partner network. To get there, Soundbrenner plans to launch a larger outreach program aimed at affiliates who meet their basic criteria.

Rather than signing up anyone, Soundbrenner plans to select the most promising candidates and schedule calls to understand how each would promote their products.

We go for the best affiliates or everybody that we come across. However, there’s a fine line between quantity and quality. So we need to reach enough people while ensuring we engage with high-quality ones

Muhabat Singh, Digital Marketing Manager at Soundbrenner

That balance of reach and quality is what Soundbrenner is carrying into their next phase of growth.
